Argolis – Mycenae – Nafplion – Epidaurus
The tour begin with a scenic drive via the coastal road from Athens towards the Corinth Canal. We will cross the bridge that connects the mainland with the Peloponnese, crossing over the narrow canal.
After the brief stop the tour continues towards Mycenae; one of the most important cities of ancient Greece. You will see the tomb of Agamemnon and the ruins of the Cyclopean walls that protected this mighty city, the massive defensive walls, the Royal tombs and the Lions Gate.
Continue towards the city of Nafplion. This was the first capital of modern Greece and boasts an impressive Venetian fortress the ‘Palamidi’. Enjoy lunch a la carte at a local tavern and enjoy the regional cuisine.
After lunch, we leave for Epidaurus, the birthplace of Asklepios. which its hospital buildings devoted to the healing gods. The monuments, particularly the temple of Asklepios, the Tholos and the Theatre are considered some of the purest masterpieces of Greek architecture and date from the 4th century BC.
