Apollon Island Tour
Apiranthos – Apollonas village – Kouros statue
We start our tour in Naxos with a visit to the restored Temple of goddess Demeter, which was built on 6th century BC. Then we head to the central Naxos at Damalas village and visit a restored, still operating old olive oil press and a traditional pottery workshop.
Our tour brings us to Halki, the old commercial center and the former capital of the island. We will visit the the oldest Citron Distillery, built in 1986. Next, we head up to one of the oldest churches in the Balkans, Panagia Drossiani, which is a complex of four churches under one central dome. We continue to Apiranthos, aka “the marble village”, which is offered for self-exploration and photo-shooting. We then reach the picturesque village of Apollonas. At the slope of the village, lies an unfinished Kouros staue (11 meters) which was dated back from 6th century BC.
We return back following the fascinating northern east coast with a great overview of the Aghia tower.
